Richard Warke established the Augusta Group of Companies in 2005, and has founded and led several resource companies, among them Augusta Resource Corporation, which was sold in 2014 for approximately C$670 million.

From his base in West Vancouver, Richard Warke also founded Ventana Gold Corporation in 2008, and discovered the La Bodega gold deposit in Colombia. He raised capital for exploration, expanded the deposit into one of the larger high-grade deposits in South America, and sold the company for roughly C$1.6 billion in 2011.

After the sale of Ventana Gold Corporation and Augusta Resource Corporation, Richard Warke concentrated on the growth of Arizona Mining Inc., and the exploration and development of the company’s Hermosa-Taylor zinc-lead-silver project in Santa Cruz County, Arizona. At Arizona Mining, he oversaw the project’s resource growth which placed it amongst the top five primary zinc deposits globally, based on contained zinc-equivalent metal. In 2018, Arizona Mining was sold to Perth-based South32 Ltd. for C$2.1 billion. In addition, Richard Warke served as the Executive Chair of NewCastle Gold, a company that underwent a three-way merger in 2017, resulting in the creation of Equinox Gold in a deal that was worth approximately C$200 million.

Over the course of his extensive career, Richard Warke and his West Vancouver team have built a reputation for establishing and guiding successful resource companies. His knowledge and experience have made him a primary source for information about the global resource sector, and he is often sought out by media as an expert on mining and related topics.

Besides his extensive experience in mining, West Vancouver businessman Richard Warke has knowledge of the forestry, oil and gas, manufacturing, technology and hospitality sectors. He also owns a business in the aviation sector.
